PLUTO AND BEYOND”.
Mark Breen is the Planetarium Director of the
Lyman Spitzer Jr. Planetarium and senior
Meteorologist at the Fairbanks Museum. He is
also the host of the daily astronomy show Eye
On The Night Sky and frequently can be heard
reporting on the weather. In July 2015 the New
Horizons spacecraft flew past icy Pluto and its
moons. The spacecraft has sent information
that has retooled our knowledge of Pluto. The
tiny spacecraft is continuing to the outer edge
of our solar system, the Kuiper Belt. Mark
Breen will address why astronomers are
interested in these distant icy objects and what
we have learned so far.
